چکیده

• The performance of a reactive distillation column with cyclic operation is analysed. This the first simulation for an equilibrium reaction. Conventional and are compared production MTBE. In this paper MTBE from isobutene methanol via studied mass energy balance stage model. study shows application model, where reaction assumed. A process design equivalent to conventional has been simulated. operated gives high conversions reactants, product throughput low requirements. By investigating behaviour it was found that periodic can give overall higher degree separation design. due in operation, which favours desired With no back-mixing liquid holdups transfer conversion increased scheme. Thereby, improved reduced number stages realised.

Reactive Distillation Process Analysis in a Divided Wall Column

This contribution aims to present a methodology to model and simulate the reactive dividing wall column (RDWC) using commercial software. Feasibility of separation scheme was established with ASPEN DISTILTM. Simulation of flowsheet configuration was performed with ASPEN HYSYSTM, using the two columns model. The reactive zone hosted by the prefractionator was modelled and simulated as backward f...

State Space Model Predictive Control of a Reactive Distillation Process

This work has been carried out to demonstrate the performances of four different state space models in the model predictive control system of a reactive distillation process that was used for the production of ethyl acetate. The state space models of the reactive distillation process were developed with the aid of System Identification Toolbox of MATLAB using the data acquired from the reactive...

From Reactive Distillation To Reactive Membrane Separation: A Generalized Approach For Feasibility Analysis

A new feasibility analysis methodology generalized from distillation is applied to membrane process. The model is formulated to depict the reactive liquid phase composition on the retentate side of membrane reactors. The effects of both chemical reaction and membrane mass transfer kinetics on the feasible products are elucidated by means of retentate phase diagrams and bifurcation analysis. In ...

Reactive Distillation: Control Structure and Process Design for Robustness

Reactive Distillation (RD) is the combination of reaction and distillation in a single vessel (Backhaus, 1921). Over the past two decades, it has emerged as a promising alternative to conventional “reaction followed by separation” processes (Towler & Frey, 2002). The technology is attractive when the reactant-product component relative volatilities allow recycle of reactants into the reactive z...

Shock-Control Study in Ethyl Acetate Production Process in a Reactive Distillation Column: Experimental and Simulation

In this article, the dynamics and shock-control in a Reactive Distillation Column (RDC) for the transesterification of ethanol and acetic acid was studied and simulated. The dynamic behavior of the process was experimentally analyzed. The reactants were conducted in a fifteen stages RDC in a single feed stream. An appropriate strategy was chosen and performed for column start up to achieve the ...
